What will my first appointment entail?

When you first arrive, our front desk personnel(s) will welcome you and you would be asked to complete our intake and other insurance forms. When the forms are completed, you will be attended to by your Physical Therapist, who will perform your first assessment. This assessment will include a review of your medical history, diagnostic tests, and your current complaints. Your therapist will explain the outcome of his/her evaluation and treatment options to you.

When should I arrive and how long will my session be?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete all the necessary paperwork. Your initial assessment will be about 45-60 minutes and the subsequent appointments will be 30-45 minutes. Our patients will also spend time outside of this timeframe for their exercises.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that will give easy access to the affected body area. Preferably no jewelry.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Insurance/extended healthcare card, your prescription or doctor’s referral if you have one; Doctor’s referral is not mandatory for physiotherapy so if you don’t have one you can still come for your physiotherapy.

Does my insurance company accept direct billing?

We offer direct billing to the following insurance companies: Alberta Blue Cross, Desjardins Insurance, Great West Life, Sun Life, Green Shield, Industrial Alliance, Johnson Inc., Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance, Standard Life, and others.

If you aren’t sure whether direct billing is available for your insurance company, please call us or your insurance company to clarify. Sometimes depending on the type of coverage or policy you have with your insurance company, you may need to pay out of pocket and submit the receipt for reimbursement. Direct billing is also made for all WCB or MVA related injuries.

How is your clinic different from others?

At Stargate, we understand the importance of physiotherapy in your recovery and we strive every day to give you the best of care you deserve. We believe that right from the time you enter our facility our time becomes your time and we spend this time meeting your needs. For example; your therapist will give you adequate time to answer all your questions, and he/she will take the time to explain your treatment options.

We do not just provide you with an exercise page to work on; we work with you to achieve the best out of your exercise program. Education is an integral part of our treatment portfolio; when patients are well educated about their condition, they are more likely to cooperate with their healthcare provider.
